Did you send that to listar at linuxfromscratch.org or 
alfs-discuss-request at linuxfromscratch.org?

>From the looks of it you sent it to listar at linuxfromscratch.org. If you mail 
to listar, it doesn't know what list you want (that's why 
alfs-discuss-request is easier: it puts you in the alfs-discuss list mode)

if you want to email listar directly, the syntax is:
	unsubscribe alfs-discuss sostrovs at eng.kns.com

that should work.
