I have no idea why Gerard would think of me when writing the book since I
got onto this mailing list AFTER 2.4.3 came out.  =-)

While I'm still trying to figure out how everything else works, I do
understand why gzip and bzip2 were installed in chapter 5.  The problem as
I see it is that when I get ready to install my LFS system (after I've
statically compiled all the necessary stuff), I would need gunzip and
bunzip2 since I don't decompress all the sources first.  I only decompress
them as I need them, which for most of them, occurs after the chroot deal.  
So for people like me, I need to have gzip and bzip2 installed (if only
statically) before I can get to work on everything else.

Can someone else tell me if that makes sense, or have I been up too long?
