None at all, that's the main reason for using the devfsd - it provides 
backwards compatability for applications still using (hard coded) dev names.

Just a side note, you don't _need_ devfsd, but it does help out.  I use devfs 
without the daemon on all my boot disks now, and just change fstab and 
inittab to use the new names.  Works beautifully!  (And as I was telling 
Jesse, it makes for easy automounting of a boot cd, the first CD drive in any 
computer always shows up as /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 !)
