3. When you installed XFree86 did you:


Edit /etc/ld.so.conf and add /usr/X11R6/lib. Run

ldconfig

Add /usr/X11R6/bin to your PATH environment variable in .bash_profile. 
The statement should look something like *PATH=$PATH:/usr/X11R6/bin* and 
be placed before the *export PATH* statement. Run
source ~/.bash_profile
