>> server string = %h server(Samba %v)

When you browse to a computer in explorer, this is the descriptive string to the right of the server's name. Similar to putting something in the Computer Description field on the Identification tab of Network Properties in Win9x. In this case, You should see "Samba server version 2.2" or whatever your version is. I know that's not 100% right, as I can't remember what the %h is for. :)

>> workgroup = (domain name or Windows Internet Name)

This is the Windows workgroup you want your machine to belong to.

>> netbios name = (windows Internet Name, or Host name of linux box.)

This is the name you want your machine to appear as within the workgroup. You can have a different netbios name from your host name, if you prefer.
