problems mounting samba on lfs-machine

mount -t smbfs //172.16.4.50/public /mnt/samba -o guest

I didn't see the guest as an option in any of your tries.  That is
what I have working on my LFS system.  However I do have sambaclient
installed.  I'm not sure if it is necessary though.
