telnet issue

Hello, there!

Before I start, I know telnet is REALLY BAD. My host
is on a trusted network and I plan to kill telnet as
soon as I can get ssh working. Anyway, I can telnet
to my LFS 6.1 box from most every host on my home LAN,
but the one box I really want to connect from takes
about half a minute to connect. When it does I see
the following messages in my /var/log/messages.log
file:

Nov 11 20:40:17 tuxbox xinetd[3689]: START: telnet
pid=4469 from=192.168.0.2
Nov 11 20:40:40 tuxbox syslog-ng[3482]: STATS: dropped
0
Nov 11 20:40:47 tuxbox telnetd[4469]: Connect from
192.168.0.2
Nov 11 20:40:47 tuxbox telnetd[4469]: ttloop: retrying
Nov 11 20:40:47 tuxbox telnetd[4469]: ttloop: retrying
Nov 11 20:40:47 tuxbox telnetd[4469]: ttloop: retrying
Nov 11 20:40:47 tuxbox telnetd[4469]: ttloop: retrying
...

The box I'm trying to connect from is on the local
network with tuxbox, is running WinXP and using
hyperterm in VT100 mode for telnet. I need some form
of remote teminal access to this box as I intend for
it to sit in a corner of my office as a headless
server. Any pointers would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Edward
