Apparently so, yes. I left them out this time and it commenced
the building process with HAVE_SSL..

It almost completed - but only almost. The process comes to a
halt with a a longish outburst of errors of which I'm only
including a few:

ssl_rsa.o(.text+0xb07): undefined reference to `PEM_read_bio_RSAPrivateKey'
/usr/lib/libssl.a(ssl_rsa.o): In function `SSL_CTX_use_PrivateKey_file':
ssl_rsa.o(.text+0xdaa): undefined reference to `PEM_read_bio_PrivateKey'
/usr/lib/libssl.a(ssl_rsa.o): In function `SSL_CTX_use_certificate_chain_file':
ssl_rsa.o(.text+0xec9): undefined reference to `PEM_read_bio_X509'
ssl_rsa.o(.text+0xfa7): undefined reference to `PEM_read_bio_X509'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [links] Error 1

Any idea what the problem is this time?
